Two Pot ScreamersTwo Pots

How do you say goodbye after fifteen glorious years of performing in the Clarence Valley and beyond…

well with A Farewell Show at the GDSC, of course…on Friday Nov 2.

The Two Pot Screamers are hanging up the crazy costumes and putting the 70s to bed after what can only be called an amazing journey.

No more Khe Sahn, I Will Survive or Brown Eyed Girl.

No more Purple Bedford!

And no more silly photographs!

Even the name was silly.

It seemed hilarious to them when they thought of it but sadly the ex Victorians, new to NSW, didn’t know they call them middies round these parts….

but the posters were printed and the name stuck…the two pots, the screamers, the heweyncate band, the tea pot strainers…whatever!

It started at the PO when Woodsy was there.

Two fresh faced musos from the city, demo tape in hand looking for a gig.

Well,Woodsy’s tape deck was on the blink and so Cate ended up serenading the lunch time crowd with the karaoke machine and ‘hopelessly devoted to you’.

They got the gig!

So from Phil and the PO to sunny Sundays on the deck at the Yamba Shores Tavern, with Paul and Steve the singing barmen at the Yamba bowlo, on the back verandah at Ullmarra, with Bob and Debbie at the Bottom in Maclean…Nymbodia, Brooms head, South Grafton and Whiporie Hall.

And in between weddings, parties presentation nights….celebrations a plenty…thousands of happy faces and occasions…all over the Valley.

Who can forget the packed gigs for race day and jacaranda at Roche’s with Jamie and the crew, Arthur’s  ‘up close and personals’ at GDSC (where they must have been the only duo ever to bake a loaf of bread and serve toast during a gig) and the up close and sweaty when things expanded to include a year long stint with the never forgotten Lovebug at the Club.

They have blamed the boogie in Japan as Australian ambassadors and have luckily come back again from a visit to Honiara, Grafton’s sister city in the Solomon’s, with only a small case of non contagious TB.

They have performed the national anthem at the races, hosted the Olympic torch relay, performed with the fireworks at the Olympic closing ceremony and sung “Santa Claus is Coming to Town’…eventually ….at Carols by Candlelight.

And now they want to say goodbye.

So many memories,  so much laughter.

If you fell in love or out of love, partied with friends like there was no tomorrow, danced till you dropped, learnt how to have fun or unleashed the unashamed dag in yourself…

come along for one last time and re-live the Two Pot Screamer experience.

Cate and Hewey want to say thank-you to you all...personally!!!!

...play that song again...

The Two-Pot Screamers are a well-established and popular duo, playing consistently for the last 14 years up and down the North Coast. They perform an endearing brew of old and new classics and closet favourites with energy and enthusiasm, and are rightly proud of the wide-ranging age group they attract and their crowd pulling capability.

Cate McQuillen and Hewey Eustace moved from Melbourne to Northern NSW, near Whiporie to be sort of precise, on Melbourne Cup Day 1991. Cate had just finished playing the principal role of Sheila Franklin in the Melbourne production of “Hair” for which she was nominated for Best Female Performer in the Green Room Awards. Prior to “Hair’ she fronted numerous Melbourne bands and featured in theatrical performances ranging from fringe theatre to musicals to plays to children’s theatre. Best known for his contribution to the Melbourne rock scene, Hewey was the popular bassist for “21 Guns”. Within a year they had earned an international recording contract, released an album with three successful singles and video clips and been on “Countdown”. He also played with the then struggling blues guitarist Jeff Lang. Now they live in a wonderful old church on 80 acres growing vegetables, renovating and writing songs.

Cate and Hewey devote most of their time performing as the highly successful duo The Two-Pot Screamers, their infectious personalities and genuine performance style complimenting their vocal versatility.

They wooed crowds in Japan and the Solomon islands and toured the East Coast from Melbourne to Brisbane. No venue seems a hurdle for The Two-Pot Screamers.

They’ve played pubs, clubs, resorts, parties, private functions, corporate functions, horse racing carnivals, cinema openings, festivals, balls, weddings, divorces and yacht races just to mention a few. They’ve even been spotted toasting buns on McHappy days and belting out the national anthem at special events.

…And wherever they go they are loved.

Their years of combined experience are reflected in their professionalism, flexibility, versatility and willingness to make every night a party night.

With everything they’ve done they should be “The Two Old farts” –but they’re not-they are The Two-Pot Screamers!
